Suda Hachiman-jinja Shrine
Believed to have been founded in 895, this ancient shrine is home to the Suda Hachiman Shrine Mirror, a bronze mirror that has been designated a National Treasure. The mirror is engraved with one of the oldest epigraphs in Japan. The shrine’s autumn festival is a Wakayama Prefecture-designated intangible folk cultural property. In spring, there are spectacular views of the cherry blossoms and the red torii gates of Marutaka-inari-jinja Shrine on the hill behind Suda Hachiman-jinja.
